OUR HISTORY
Prior Lake Christian Academy (PLCA) has been a ministry of Prior Lake Baptist Church since the academy began in September 1978 (originally called Prior Lake Christian School). PLCA opened as an Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) school under the leadership of Pastor Arthur Coats who had a vision for Christian education in the South Metro area.
The school’s first student body began with thirty-two students, grades kindergarten through twelfth. Since PLCA’s doors opened, over thirty years ago, many capable and godly teachers have faithfully served in the academy. Its graduates have gone on for higher education and are occupying places of responsibility in Christian ministry as well as in the broader workforce.
In 2010, PLCA transitioned from a purely ACE curriculum to utilize a blend of teacher directed curricula. The academy continues to pursue excellence as it educates the next generation for a higher calling.
OUR MISSION
Prior Lake Christian Academy (PLCA) is a ministry of Prior Lake Baptist Church (PLBC); therefore, their unified mission is to glorify God by making disciples.
The purpose of Prior Lake Christian Academy is to provide a nurturing environment that inspires the hearts and minds of students to love Jesus Christ and to develop a lifelong love of learning. Our goal is to prepare each student for a life of biblically-grounded, God-glorifying service. PLCA is grounded on biblical truth, committed to the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and holds to a distinctively Baptistic doctrine.
OUR BELIEFS
Statement of Faith
The Word of God
We believe that the 66 books of the Bible are the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that it has final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in the divine attributes.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
Man
We believe that man is utterly helpless in his sinful state and that salvation is through Jesus alone. We believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and resurrected to bear the condemnation of all people and that nothing prevents anyone's salvation except his rejection of Jesus Christ as his sin-bearer. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
The Trinity
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.
The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Creation
We believe that the early chapters of Genesis are literal and accurate history, teaching that God created the world from nothing and rules all things at all times in all places.
